Yasmin Sharabi is an artist, curator and was previously manager of The Waterline, an art space within the Bahrain Financial Harbour dedicated to supporting the art scene and nurturing artists in Bahrain. She holds an MA in Art Business from Sotheby’s Institute, London (2006) and a BA in Studio Art/ Art History, Concordia University, Montreal (2004). She was previously Assistant Manager of Cuadro Fine Art Gallery, DIFC, Dubai, UAE. A combination of Yasmin’s extensive exhibition experience, awareness of current market trends and a keen eye for detail have enabled her to surpass expectations in terms of ensuring quality and standard, thereby building an important network of contacts and clients- artists, collectors and major institutions- in the region and abroad. Recent projects included curating an exhibition with 40 artists from the Gaza Strip, Palestine- a collaborative venture with PADICO (Palestine), the APT (Artist Pension Trust), the UNDP and the Institute Francais (Jerusalem).
Frances Stafford is a curator and Senior Exhibition Specialist at the Ministry of Culture, Bahrain, where she heads and organises various projects and exhibitions, having worked closely with institutions such as the Institute Du Monde Arab (Arab World Institute), Istanbul Modern, The Sakip Sabanci Museum, The Russian Decorative Art Museum, and other private diplomatic collections. She has created specialized events to promote culture and tourism in Bahrain as well as acts as a cultural diplomat and advisor to embassies. Her extensive participation at important art fairs and exhibitions has enabled her to have a keen knowledge of the changes in aesthetics and tastes in the art world but also of the market on a whole. The relationships she has secured with regional Artists and Institutions is a marker of her domineering success in the field. Frances acted as assistant curator for Bahrain’s first participation at the 55th Venice Art Biennale in 2013 with the exhibition, “In a World of Your Own”.
